You can set hive/tez to use a specified queue. For tez, the configuration is 'tez.queu.name'. Regarding to queue capacity settings, please refer to this link.

that can work. What I mean compute close to data means both nodemanager and datanode should be on same node.

We solved it by adding following in flume conf agent.sinks.hdfssink.hdfs.idleTimeout = 300
