@Gerrit Slot Which TP version are you using? The latest technical preview available is TP #1.7. You can find the CFN links here http://hortonworks.github.io/hdp-aws/. Hope that helps.

Hi @Gerrit Slot. I'm glad the link helped. There should be an announcement on the Hortonworks blog (http://hortonworks.com/blog/) and on HCC when we have new technical previews and once we reach the GA. You can follow @jeff on HCC to make sure that you get notified about all HDCloud announcements. I'll also plan on posting some documentation updates too, especially if Jeff doesn't do so. You can also subscribe to get daily email notifications related to "hortonworks-cloud" tag. In both cases (following a specific user and a specific tag), you will be notified about all activity related to the person/tag, so I don't know if you would like that. I follow both Jeff and the "hortonworks-cloud". If you don't want to subscribe to anything, you can keep on checking for announcements and for doc updates: TP docs will most likely continue being available here: http://hortonworks.github.io/hdp-aws/index.html. We've been updating release notes for each technical preview http://hortonworks.github.io/hdp-aws/releasenotes/index.html. Once we reach GA, the official documentation will be available on the Hortonworks docs page (https://docs.hortonworks.com/index.html).

To make it easier for you to find the information that you need, we significantly reorganized SmartSense 1.3.0 documentation:
SmartSense Installation introduces the new SmartSense 1.3.0 architecture, and guides you through the installation and upgrade process. SmartSense User Guide guides you as you’re using SmartSense functionality, including accessing and using the new Activity Explorer. ReleaseNotes informs you about new features, fixed issues, and known issues. Check out these updates and help us improve the documentation by providing your feedback on HCC. Thanks!

I updated the docs to include the URL for those using earlier versions of Ambari: http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/SS1/SmartSense-1.3.0/bk_user-guide/content/activity_explorer.html

Check out the HDC on AWS technical preview documentation and learn how to use HDC to create clusters on AWS. The steps are pretty simple, even if you are new to AWS: Log in to your AWS account or create one. Create an AWS key pair. Launch a cloud controller instance. If you're just getting started with AWS, select the first deployment option. Log in to the cloud controller and create clusters. Use the link on the dashboard to log in to Ambari. This documentation is work in progress. We would love to hear your feedback and suggestions for improving it. Feel free to comment below.

Thanks @Ravi Mutyala and @Artem Ervits. After getting stuck I ended up starting over using instructions on Apache wiki. I'm not sure what exactly was different but no password-related problems.
