It has bee disallowed for security reasons. There is an RMP in the pipeline for address this. As a workaround, data should be transformed before reaching Hive.

@Prakash Punj This happens when keystore where certificates were imported is GKR type instead of JKS. Recreate the keystore, import certificates (do not use self signed certificates in production environment) and run security setup for ambari again

@Joav Bally Could you ssh into the machine and retrieve /var/log/hive/hiveserver2.log from the time you try to start it? It would be more explicit if we go directly to the hiveserver2 log files instead of what Ambari brings

That's basically it, View cannot access hive because of hiveserver2 is down.
Please copy and paste the output of the hiverserver2 when you try to starting it. Also hiveserver2.log file would be useful to see the underline problem

Hi @Andrew Watson @Constantin Stanca is right... you can start 2 or 3 different broker process, each with its own logs dir, etc... They will run as different brokers but in the same machine... You can create a config properties for one broker, then change broker id, port and log directory. Then copy it with different config and start each broker using the different config properties.
Things to look at broker.id logs.dirs port (since running in same machine, need to be different)
