I'm re-installing Ranger. I deleted the previous install using ambari-api. But, now I'm seeing this issue: @ step 6 with "server error" message and then Ambari hangs.
here is another similar HCC case with no resolution: https://community.hortonworks.com/questions/2862/ambari-212-ranger-installation-failed-api-delete-a.html At the same time, if I try to upgrade the cluster to 2.4 after deleting Ranger, it is also failing. It throws mising pre-main class error for one of the Ranger jars (though ranger has been deleted completely). As per log this statement is failing while writing ambari DB: INSERT INTO serviceconfigmapping (config_id, service_config_id) VALUES (22, 240) was aborted

HDP2.3.2 sandbox and HDP2.3 Training VM are two different sandboxes. The regular HDP2.3.2 sandbox is not configured for any Hortonworks training. Please use Training VM specific to Dev Pig/Hive class provided by your instructor OR the Self learning library (if you are already registered).

Please exit out from hdfs user also before running the query. It seems you ran it using hdfs user instead of hadoop user.

@Sami Ahmad Please create home directory for hadoop user in HDFS first. It seems it does not exist. Please run following commands in the given sequence and try again running your hive command: su - hdfs
hdfs dfs -mkdir /user/hadoop
hdfs dfs -chown -R hadoop /user/hadoop
exit

Please keep changing the IP in any URL which does not have the desired IP address. Then it should work. OR you can do following to get rid off this error as mentioned by: @Kuldeep Kulkarni: Add below line in /etc/hosts file (in Mac/Linux). in Windows it is C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts: 192.168.183.132 sandbox.hortonworks.com

@VENKATESH M Please find out the actual IP assigned to the sandbox by running following. Using this IP you should be able to access all the UIs. ifconfig eth0 | grep "inet addr"

the one time password for the root user is hadoop. Once you login successfully first time, it asks you to change it to something else. Did you change the password for root user earlier? If you can not recall the password or unable to login anyway then I would recommend to download the sandbox again.
