What is your mode of access? I am guessing you have enabled SQL Standard Authorization and are accessing using the HiveServer2, in that case have you restarted the HiveServer2? Also how did you make the change and restart services, make sure you do it through Ambari UI.

Multiple instances of HiveServer2 can be started to load balance and make it highly available. You can connect to HiveServer2 in two ways - direct host:port, or through zkurl. See more examples of connection url here.

To view the registered hiveservers you can use the zkCli. $ /usr/hdp/current/zookeeper-client/bin/zkCli.sh
[zk: localhost:2181(CONNECTED) 0] ls /hiveserver2
[serverUri=node-1.example.com:10000;version=x.x.x.2.3.2.0-xx;sequence=0000000000]

Since HDP Sandbox is on one node and you are running the eclipse also on the same node then you should be able to connect using jdbc:hive2://localhost:10000.

You can send events on localhost port 44444 and it will show them in the logs. That basically shows that the Flume Agent is working as expected.
