Ulimit does not depend on the size of the cluster but more on the individual node, workloads and user concurrency. I set these values as best practice, which BTW is a large enough value and is probably never reached. * - nofile 32768
* - nproc 65536 Ambari actually changes the limit of the core files created as part of the commands executed like in this case -

In an HA environment, you should always refer to the nameservice, not any one of the namenodes. The syntax for the URL is hdfs://<nameservice>/ Notice that no port number is specified. The HA configuration should be defined in /etc/hadoop/conf/core-site.xml and accessible by the process. WebHDFS does not natively support Namenode HA but you can use Knox to provide the functionality.

paul@hortonworks.com The AD config was a bit tricky at the client site and one of our failed Kerborization attempts created an LDAP entry. The naming convention lined up with the above structure, so we deleted the entry and waited for the deletion to replicate. Then we gave it another shot and were successful.

We'll be adding this information to the documentation for the Kerberos Wizard very soon: http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.1.2.0/bk_Ambari_Security_Guide/content/_launching_the_kerberos_wizard_automated_setup.html It's important to note that these principal password are note permanently persisted within Ambari. They are only used to populate the AD password fields, and generate the appropriate key tabs.
