... 2 more This can happen in case the HSI is enabled after kerberizing the cluster. Reason: - This is because HSI needs 2 ketab files : 'hive.service.keytab' and 'hive.llap.zk.sm.keytab' present on all the YARN's NodeManager nodes. - If HSI is not enabled before the cluster's kerberization, the above two keytab files will not get distributed on all the NodeManager nodes, unlike when HSI is Enabled before kerberization. Thus, the error: Caused by: org.apache.zookeeper.KeeperException$InvalidACLException: KeeperErrorCode = InvalidACL for /llap-sasl/user-hive at org.apache.zookeeper.KeeperException.create(KeeperException.java:121) ~[zookeeper-3.4.6.2.5.0.0-1245.jar:3.4.6-1245--1] because the ZK node is not created / missing. zk: localhost:2181(CONNECTED) 3] ls /llap-sasl []
zk node is missing
Resolution: - Regenerating keytabs from Ambari Kerberos page, will distribute the above keytab files on all NodeManager Nodes. - Further, do confirm that Hive's config hive.llap.zk.sm.connectionString is updated with the list of all Zookeeper Nodes in the cluster. For example: zk.host1.org:2181,zk.host2.org:2181,zk.host3.org:2181 The Zookeeper Nodes list ca be got from here: Note to append the Port Numbers as mentioned in example. Restart HSI to confirm the behavior.

@Dinesh Das There is no industry standard certification for Scala. But as others have mentioned, you can go for a course which teaches you the language and includes a project completion to apply your leant skills as part of the course. Coursera one is good. (Getting a certificate from them implies that you have to pay for it).

@Nasheb Ismaily Which YARN queue are you using ? Can you attach the HSI start logs and YARN logs for the LLAP application? Meanwhile, : 1. if you are using 'llap' named queue, can you increase the "% of cluster capacity" slider from HIVE->configs-> HSI section, or 2. if you are using any other queue, you can decrease slider for "Maximum Total Concurrent Queries". Save the configs and restart HSI.

@Anuraj Pandey 1. Can you check for latest version of hive-site via API to get the value of "hive.server2.tez.default.queues" <Host IP>:8080/api/v1/clusters/c1/configurations Search hive-site and pick the latest/last version from there, and click on it. The URL will be like : <Host IP>:8080/api/v1/clusters/c1/configurations?type=hive-site&tag=<latest tag version> Search for "hive.server2.tez.default.queues" 2. Also, check the API call which is failing/hanging. If you are using chrome browser, start from a service other than HIVE. Right click and select "Inspect element", followed by clicking "Network" tab. Then come to "setting" tab for Hive, and note the API calls made. Determine which one is failing and post it here. Other option is going back to the pervious config version for HIVE and retrying setting the config.

@Kumar Veerappan From Ambari Web UI, you can go to each host and can see the component/service that each host houses. Host Page showing all hosts in cluster : Example: screen-shot-2016-07-26-at-41103-pm.png Clocking on a specific host will take you to that host specific page showing component/Service that it has: Example : screen-shot-2016-07-26-at-41126-pm.png Let me know if you have further question.
