Hi, I am unable to start the "Hive Metastore" service through Apache Server . I keep getting the following error. The materials I found on the internet suggest that it could be due to attempt to get schema information with older metastore. But, I used Ambari to install the cluster and all the sevices, so I am sure all the metastore should have been up to date. I have also observed that the service "HiveServer2" is unstable. When I start the service, it starts and shown as green in the dashboard. But after some time, it stops automatically. I do not know the reason why. When I started writing this post, it was green. After I finished writing the post, it was red so I restarted it. I am adding some more information. The "MySQL server" service is always in red and the status is always "install failed" . I found out through this forum that, since I had installed MySQL manually, during the first step of Ambari Installation, this service cannot be installed. Is this causing the issue?. Here is the error. Metastore connection URL: jdbc:mysql://mycomputer.mydomain.com/hive?createDatabaseIfNotExist=true
Metastore Connection Driver : com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
Metastore connection User: hiveuser
org.apache.hadoop.hive.metastore.HiveMetaException: Failed to get schema version.

@Neeraj Sabharwal I will accept your answer. I have rolled back the proxy settings. I think it was the ambari-servers and amabri agent restart that worked..

@Neeraj Sabharwal Please see the answer I posted. I thought the proxy server was the issue, but then I saw that there was an error message for the proxy line, that I took from your URL. So I removed this line and restarted ambari servers and agents on all the nodes. After that I started seeing the details. Sorry I had accepted your answer and then unaccepted it.

I think I had jumped the gun here. I didn't notice that the command ' Dhttp.proxyHost= <yourProxyHost> -Dhttp.proxyPort= <yourProxyPort>' is not being identified by ambari server as valid command. So I deleted this line from the .env file and then restarted ambari server, restarted ambari agent on master server, and restarted ambari agent service on all the other hosts. After this I see that the host page for all the hosts have started showing the graphs!!!. I am not sure what did the trick, but it seems that after I fixed the ntpd issue, I should have tried restarting the ambari-server and ambari-agents.

I have a HDP cluster (CentOS), that I installed using Ambari (non-sandbox). This cluster has four nodes. When I use the Ambari Dashboard to view the details, I can see various details such as "HDFS Disk usage" etc. However, when I go to the host details page, I see blank boxes, with the title "No Data Available" . This is happening for all the hosts including the master node. The "Ambari Metrics" monitor is also running fine (green). I have not been able to identify the cause of this issue. Can anyone help me fix this issue?issue.png . I am attaching the screen shot of the dashboard that displays the details of the node.

Thanks Artem for your support. The problem was not with the firewall, but the nodes were not able to reach the known ntpd time servers.

Thanks Neeraj for your support. The problem was NTPD. The problem occurred because my nodes could not reach the known ntpd time servers. So I got the address of an internal ntpd server in my company and everything started working fine.

Also, I would like to understand, why setting the time manually will not resolve the problem of time synching. If I type "date", it shows me almost the same time on all the nodes now. The dates are same, but the time varies only by a few seconds.

I have tried disabling the firewall and running the command '/usr/sbin/ntpdate pool.ntp.org'. But, I am getting the error "no server suitable for synchronization found".
