Changing REALM to UPPERCASE in Ambari helps. No need to change in AD(it worked for me on windows server 2012 r2)

Thanks @Artem Ervits! Although I remember that I set all required passwords during the installation, I did set a password for Grafana. Now I can stop and start all services.

@Sedat Kestepe No, formating and mounting the hard drives is not directly related to formatting HDFS. Conceptually the idea of "formating" is the same. But the two tasks are completely separate with no direct relationship. The hadoop format command does not format or mount the hard drives. The hard drives should already be formatted and mounted. When you run the format command for HDFS, it is preparing NameNode fsimage file so that it knows where all of the storage blocks are across the data disks. @Sedat Kestepe probably can, we don't restrict you from taking the logs and do your own analysis on it, but why would you want to? Take a look at the rest of the documentation, there is a cool UI to slice and dice the logs. Here's a screenshot https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.4.2.0/bk_ambari-user-guide/content/viewing_service_logs.html please consider accepting the answer.

Currently command tool also fails with missing config error. I use zookeeper and something is missing on it but I couldn't find. I will review the document you've sent when I find free time. Thank you 🙂

@bleonhardi, How can I connect to Hive with a UNIX/HDFS user? Let's say I have a user named "newuser". I tried the following, but apparently I am doing something wrong. % su - newuser
% beeline
beeline> !connect -n newuser -p jdbc:mysql://my.host.com/hive
