@Farrukh Munir All the requirements that you specified (custom image, exsiting vpc, private subnet) can be fulfilled with Cloudbreak so afaik that is the best practice what Hortonworks supports, I am not aware of documented fully manual setup.

@Farrukh Munir What is your use case? Both Cloudbreak and HDC have the exact purpose to ease the deployment complexity, so I recommend going with one of them, unless you have some very specific reason not to do so. Cloudbreak offers deeper customization while HDC is easier to set up. Both are deployed in an IaaS model, you can reuse your private subnet as well, you can check the available setups here. Both are using CloudFormation templates to bring up the stacks. HDP versions are fully customizable (either 2.4, 2.5 or 2.6) in Cloudbreak. If you are happy with a more perspective approach then you can check this. Hope this helps!

@Farrukh Munir Hortonworks offers Hortonworks Data Cloud and Cloudbreak for such scenarios in AWS. If you would like to use HDC, you can find a reference architecture for AWS here and for Data Lake concept, here. Hope this helps!

@Aneesh Ramadoss Please note that supporting custom images and certification of custom images is the responsibility of Hortonworks Professional Services, so please contact them, if you would like to use a certified, supported image.
There is an unsupported solution, though, you can enable a custom image selector in the UI with adding the following line to your Cloudbreak Profile: export CB_JAVA_OPTS=-Dcb.enable.custom.image=true After restarting Cloudbreak (cbd restart), you should see the following input field under "Configure Cluster" tab, after clicking "Show Advanced Options" custom-image.png You can enter your custom AMI there. Hope this helps!

@Mahendra More You might consider using Cloudbreak, it has the exact purpose to simplify the provisioning, management, and monitoring of HDP clusters in cloud environments, e.g. AWS. It has a CLI, with which to whole process can be automated. It supports both HDP 2.5 and 2.6 versions. Hope this helps!

You can do that logged in with the previous admin user in the UI, clicking on the invited user: Hope this helps!

@Peter Teunissen Unfortunately, this is not a supported use-case. There is a quick and dirty workaround, though: You can modify the existing user's e-mail address in the UAA db with the following command to avoid the collision: docker exec -it cbreak_uaadb_1 bash
psql -U postgres
UPDATE users SET username = '<EMAIL>' where username = '<EMAIL>'; After these changes, you should be able to invite the user from Cloudbreak UI. Hope this helps!

@faraon clément It turned out that you have found an issue, so I am filing a Jira ticket for that. As a workaround, you might try to get it working with HEAT (or even with Keystone V2), it should work. Hope this helps!

@faraon clément Please note, that Ocata is not supported officially by Cloudbreak yet, you can check the documentation. It might work but afaik it was not tested against it. It would be the most useful if you could send the Cloudbreak logs (either from your cbd directory or generated by "cbd logs cloudbreak"), it should contain the root cause of the error. Hope this helps!
