A couple of comments: 1. The section on setting up a dual homed network is correct, but misleading. Most people who set up dual-homed networks would expect to spread at least some of the load over the interfaces, but Hadoop code is just not network aware in that sense. So it is *much* better to use bonding/link aggregation for network redundancy. 2. In this day and age, don't even think about using 1Gb ports. Use at least 2 10Gb ports. Cloud providers are *today* installing 50Gb networks to their servers - 2x25Gb or 1x50Gb. You're wasting a LOT of CPU if you don't give them enough bandwidth.

This is a known bug => https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-10930 But what to do if you cannot upgrade Ambari but needs to enable Kerberos again with a different Realm ? You have to remove the remaining Kerberos artifacts by using the following REST call, then you can enable Kerberos with the new Realm applied: curl -H "X-Requested-By:ambari" -u
<adminuser>:<adminpw> -X DELETE http://<ambari-server>:8080/api/v1/clusters/<clustername>/artifacts/kerberos_descriptor

@Darpan Patel Darpan, I have one question related to what you did. I am newbie to Kerberos. I am actually running a similar configuration, where I have AD that holds all principals. Regarding what you have said: >>After Kerberization I created a user "ambari-user/ambari-Host_name_here@KDCRealm.com you did this in the AD right ? >>And also created a key tab, copied on the ambari -server machine How did you do that? You created the keytab at the ambari-server host ? or created it in AD and somehow you copied the keytab to /etc/security/keytabs of your ambari server host ?

I'm most familiar with GC tuning for HDFS, so I'll answer from that perspective. As you expected, our recommendation for the HDFS daemons is CMS. In practice, we have found that some of the default settings for CMS are sub-optimal for the NameNode's heap usage pattern. In addition to enabling CMS, we recommend tuning a few of those settings. I agree that G1 would be good to evaluate as the future direction. As of right now, we have not tested and certified with G1, so I can't recommend using it. For more details, please refer to the NameNode garbage collection deep dive article that I just posted. https://community.hortonworks.com/articles/14170/namenode-garbage-collection-configuration-best-pra.html
