@Aravindan Vijayan yes, Ive done that part. Its been working since the upgrade. Maybe the documentation should be updated so it is not confusing. I remember running into sth similar whne upgrading to 2.4 last year. Speaking of documentation, it should be more obvious with regards to grafana when upgrading from 2.5 to 2.6, since in 2.5 Grafana is already a part of the stack, but the upgrade docs consider it as a service that must be installed and not how to upgrade it (or if there is an upgrade).

My assumption was this was a new group. Yes, POST would work for existing groups.

@Neeraj Sabharwal I needed some more time to test it on spark 1.4.1 and 1.5.2. I also put it in a nice form. Here is the process Ive taken in order to get sparkR running: https://markobigdata.wordpress.com/2016/02/22/installing-r-on-hadoop-cluster-to-run-sparkr/

@Artem Ervits Thank you for the link. Educative reading 🙂 The clients are installed (HDFS, YARN and Hive are, I believe, required).
Ive been doing some researcher and Ive also checked the link you proposed. Adding various variables in my bashrc didnt work. I read also this document: https://hadoop.apache.org/docs/current/hadoop-project-dist/hadoop-common/NativeLibraries.html. If I run hadoop checknative -aI get, among other things, the following: hadoop: true /usr/hdp/2.3.4.0-3485/hadoop/lib/native/libhadoop.so.1.0.0 snappy: true /usr/hdp/2.3.4.0-3485/hadoop/lib/native/libsnappy.so.1
Seems as if Hadoop sees the native libraries, but Spark does not?

@Artem Ervits @Neeraj Sabharwal I followed the following website when removing the hosts:
https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.1.2.1/bk_Ambari_Users_Guide/content/_how_to_delete_a_host_from_a_cluster1.html Prior to that, I shut down all services on the to-be-deleted hosts, shut down the ambari-agent. Those hosts do not exist anymore so the clean up script cannot be accessed.
I will use the script next time, at the moment, I would like to see if there is anything else I need to take care of, except deleting the hosts in the database. Maybe Hortonworks people can update the procedure on the above mentioned website?

@Jorge de la peña Have you checked the log files?
Btw, if you can upgrade to Spark 1.6.0, then you should do it.

İf you use Ambari managed cluster go Ambari -> Zeppelin -> Configs -> shiro_ini_content section. Edit for new users, groups and passwords by changing text( at [users] section). For permission; open Zeppelin UI and related Notebook. There is note permission (top right corner) on each Notebook you can modify permissions from here.
