Hello, I am getting the error message below - please let me know your ideas on how to solve. Using Quickstart 5.8 on Virtual Box. Thanks! What could happen if, when upgrading from CDH4 to CDH5, in order to reduce the amount of time required the upgrade, someone deleted some of the files needed for the upgrade before the upgrade had been successfully completed (most likely due to insufficient hard drive space needed to complete the upgrade)? What could happen if someone deleted required files as per above - and still went through with the upgrade - and the upgrade completed (apparently successfully) - and one continued to use the "apparently sucessful" upgraded CDH5? There are some websites (not Cloudera websites) that recommend deleting files needed for the upgrade from CDH4 to CDH5 before the upgrade has been completed - as a way to reduce the amount of time needed to complete the upgrade process If the above were the case, it would seem to me that even if the upgrade to CDH5, on the surface, appeared to be sucessfull - it would not be a best practice to use the upgraded CDH5. From my perspective, the best practice would be: 1a. If one discovers, after a detailed CDH4 to CDH5 upgrade project plan, has been written, vetted, and coordinated with Management and Stakeholders - that some of the upgrade requirements have not been satisfied - then it would be best practive to abort the upgrade until such time as all of the upgrade requirements have been satisfied. 2a. It is not best practice to attempt to circumvent the upgrade requirements in an attempt to speed up the upgrade process or to "work around" the upgrade requirements specified by Cloudera. This is a "what-if" question to help better understand the internal details of the CDH upgrade process. Thank You.
