The new reputation system is live, and we’ve moved all legacy Hortonworks Community Connection (HCC) badges over to the new Cloudera Community! The reputation system is our way of rewarding members for continually supporting the three pillars of our community by:

  • being inquisitive (asking questions)
  • being generous (answering questions and sharing expertise)
  • being grateful (marking answers as solutions, giving kudos for content).  

As we mentioned in "Community Reputation: What You Need to Know" the Community reputation is comprised of several parts: community ranks, badges, and leaderboards. In this blog post we will focus on Community Leaderboards.

In a previous article we outlined how community members can navigate the redesigned community. Once members understand the new boards structure and how to find content that interests them, they will want to stay up to date when new content is posted. Members who have been with the community for a while may have noticed, the restructuring removed many of the boards they had subscribed to previously. It will be important for them as well as new members to create or update their subscriptions to remain informed on their topics of interest. Let's discuss how to subscriptions and notifications work on the redesigned community.

As part of the community redesign, we have also updated how members will post and navigate on the community. Our previous design had over 20 different forum boards which could be confusing when a single question could apply to several of them. To simplify things we placed all the support types questions into a single board and use the labeling system to filter the posts. Let’s look at the different navigation methods available.

Last month in the “Our community is getting a little larger. And a lot better.” announcement, we shared exciting news that the Cloudera Community and Hortonworks Community Connection (HCC) will unite our content and members under one roof!
