Hi,
Any idea when Clusters running 5.15 will be able to upgrade to version 6? I always liked to be on the latest version, but appears to have back fired in this instance as now can't upgrade.
What's the reason for this?
Thanks

The following pages shows supported upgrades:
https://www.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/upgrade/topics/ug_upgrade_paths.html
As you have identified, it is not supported to upgrade from 5.15x to 6.0.x This is due to the way we had to maintain fixes and features in branches of 5 and 6.
Don't worry, though, as you only need to wait a while longer for 6.1 at which point you can upgrade to 6.1. Only 5.15.x to 6.0.x is blocked.
We are targeting 6.1 to be released by the end of the year, but that is a rough estimate.
For now, you can keep up with the latest 5.x release and start reading the C6 upgrade documentation. There are some major changes all over CDH and for Solr the upgrade path is complex, so it is a good idea to start planning if you are using most of the CDH products.

According to the below link, If you have CDH 5.7 and above then you can upgrade an existing cluster to Cloudera 6. But this is for enterprise edison , are you trying it from enterprise edison?

You can upgrade to v5.16 and then go to 6.1

The below link is still not providing me the instruction to upgrade to 6.1 even if I select Current CDH Version as 5.16.

Did you upgrade CM to 6.1.0 yet? You have to do that first.

Hi @tuk,
Exactly like @truonala mentioned, you need to first upgrade Cloudera Manager to 6.1.0 before upgrading CDH from 5.16 to 6.1.0. So from the page you mentioned, first select "Current Cloudera Manager Version" to be 6.1.0 and then you will be able to see 6.1.0 as the option under "New CDH Version".
You may want to check out this page on details about supported Upgrade Paths:

I am not able to locate any docs to upgrade unmanaged cluster via command line like the one below for 5.15
https://www.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/5-15-x/topics/cdh_ig_upgrade_command_line.html
Can someone point me to the corresponding doc for 6.1 ?
