HDP 2.4 username/password is not working for root

After installation of the HDP 2.4 sandbox when trying to login into the VM via SSH or directly the root/hadoop username/password combination does not work. Any suggestions on what to do here?

I'm also using HDP 2.4 sandbox and first time when I logged in through VM it asked me to change my password(see screenshot). Is that your first logging after installing sandbox?

@Paul Schuliger - Are you sure you are trying with port 2222?
