Pre and post upgrade task/guideline for administrator

Dear All,

My client is going to upgrade from 5.4 to 5.8 CDH. The upgrade is being performed by the upgrade team using parcels. I hope it will be a rolling upgrade.

Can anyone guide me that what are the post/pre upgrade steps that Hadoop administrator needs to perform or nice to have? Any document/link that will help me???
