Ranger audit logs vs hdfs-audit.log / SecurityAuth.audit

With Ranger audit logs (both to SOLR and HDFS), do hdfs-audit.log en SecurityAuth.audit in /var/log/hadoop/hdfs add additional benefits? Seems like there is overlapping functionality here.

I was recommended to turn if off as it was providing duplicate functionality.
