2 table join fails with java exception

New Contributor

Hello,

I'm attempting to use the Hortonworks & LLAP interactive sql tutorial located here: https://hortonworks.com/tutorial/interactive-query-for-hadoop-with-apache-hive-on-apache-tez/ . From within the Hive 2.0 View, if I run simple select *, or select count(*) queries they are successful. But the moment I try to execute a 2 table join an exception is thrown. The exception is: java.sql.SQLException: Error while processing statement: FAILED: Execution Error, return code -101 from org.apache.hadoop.hive.ql.exec.tez.TezTask. org.apache.hadoop.fs.FSOutputSummer.<init>(Ljava/... Here is an example query that is throwing the exception: select o_orderkey, o_custkey, l_orderkey from orders o join lineitem l on (o.o_orderkey = l.l_orderkey );

Any ideas on what might be wrong?

Thanks,

Jim
