Hi,

I read that Apache Falcon is deprecated and it will be removed in HDP 3.0.

Please could you inform us by which component it will be replaced ?

What is impact for Apache Atlas ?

Thank you for your help.

@Smart Data

You are correct, Falcon has been deprecated in 2.6. Please keep in mind, it is included in 2.6, so will have 2+1 years of support from GA date (GA was April 2017).

Falcon will be replaced by another solution, to be announced.

Apache Atlas continues to be a key project, with active development by Hortonworks. There is no impact to Atlas by the Falcon announcement.

If you are an existing HDP customer, please reach out to your account team and we can share more details.

I will recognize that Hortonworks could be a greatest company in Open Source Community mainly in Big Data technologies if Hortonworks could share more details :) In any case, thank you for having taken the time to reply. have a good day,

Same here - we need some information about future. We are not HDP customers. Does it mean we just have to wait and take what hortonworks provides? Hortonworks offered Falcon too and now it will be deprecated. Who says that the next product lasts? I see that new oozie and oozie view in ambari can replace part of the falcon and Atlas can replace other part. The question is how to move from one tool to other in production. Question to Hortonworks - does new product involves tools or routines how to move from Falcon to the new product?
