Is there a (relatively) easy way to find the audit trail of when the last time that a table and its regions underwent major compaction? Is this information stored in ZK or one of the HBase sys tables?
Not so interested in viewing details as the compaction is underway, but want to find out on-demand exactly when this last occurred.
You can look at the timestamp on the files in HDFS as a starting point. I don't believe we store that information in HBase -- I can't think of any immediate reason why the system would need to preserve that.
