Cloudera Manager user password encryption scheme

Cloudera Manager user password encryption scheme

New Contributor

I'm currently working on automating our cloudera clusters with Chef. One of the things I've done is write a custom resource to manage users. I have a problem though: my resource is executed each time Chef runs, because I have no way currently to check with the Manager API if the password I want to set is the current one.

I can work around that though: by looking up the current password hash in the database.

Does anyone know how those hashes are computed?
