HDP 2.6.1 install package failure on one node

Super Guru

Hi

I am trying to upgrade HDP from HDP-2.6.0.3 (2.6.1.0-34) to HDP-2.6.1.0-129 (2.6.1.0-129). When I try to install packages on all nodes in the cluster, I get following error on one node where Ambari is running. The only thing I have done different here is do a yum clean all. I know its coming from one particular repo. But this repo is on all machines.

Here is the repo content. If repo content is an issue as indicated by 404, then how come I don't get this issue on other nodes which also have same repo. Any ideas here?

2017-06-22 18:53:45,416 - Package Manager failed to install packages. Error: Execution of '/usr/bin/yum -d 0 -e 0 -y install hdp-select' returned 1. One of the configured repositories failed (HDP-2.6),
and yum doesn't have enough cached data to continue. At this point the only
safe thing yum can do is fail. There are a few ways to work "fix" this:

     1. Contact the upstream for the repository and get them to fix the problem.

     2. Reconfigure the baseurl/etc. for the repository, to point to a working
upstream. This is most often useful if you are using a newer
distribution release than is supported by the repository (and the
packages for the previous distribution release still work).

     3. Disable the repository, so yum won't use it by default. Yum will then
just ignore the repository until you permanently enable it again or use
        --enablerepo for temporary usage:

            yum-config-manager --disable HDP-2.6

     4. Configure the failing repository to be skipped, if it is unavailable.
Note that yum will try to contact the repo. when it runs most commands,
so will have to try and fail each time (and thus. yum will be be much
slower). If it is a very temporary problem though, this is often a nice
        compromise:

Super Guru

I just deleted the HDP.repo and my install packages complete. I would still like to understand why I was getting this issue to begin with.

Your earlier error indicates:

http://s3.amazonaws.com/dev.hortonworks.com/HDP/centos7/2.x/BUILDS/2.6.1.0-34/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404 - Not Found

.

It might be dues to temporary unavailability of the requested resource. Or temporary unavailability of internet at your host where the install was happening. May be looking at the "/var/log/messages" can reveal such n/w issues.

.

Also your repomd.xml file should have been picked up from the following public URL: (Dev builds might not be available permanently)

http://public-repo-1.hortonworks.com/HDP/centos7/2.x/updates/2.6.1.0/repodata/repomd.xml

.

Looks like your eariler "hdp.repo" file was pointing to a Build that does not exist now. Because the mentioned URL will give me 404 error to me as well. http://s3.amazonaws.com/dev.hortonworks.com/HDP/centos7/2.x/BUILDS/2.6.1.0-34/repodata/repomd.xml

.
