Hi.
I am very new to hive and the hadoop ecosystem.
I am trying to create an external table in hive but I am encountering this error:
Upon reading, the suggestions points the Ranger policy to be the root cause but upon checking, all policies have already been given permission to "All"
Did I miss something?
Thank you for the assist.

Have you tried setting the policy [all - database, table, column] instead of all-hiveservice which enables a user who has Service Admin permission in Ranger to run the kill query API
Please that and revert

Hi Geoffrey.
Actually, all other policies already have the same permissions with the all-hiveservice.
Which makes it more weird because all of them have the "All" permissions but still having that error.

Can you share some info about your cluster HDP version, AD/LAP integration, Kerberos, nodes, etc?
So I can check if I have a sandbox of the same version
