How/Can I install/manage Grafana on a HDF cluster using Ambari ?

Contributor

hi,

I want to install Grafana on my HDF cluster - is this possible through ambari? I want to connect Grafana to my HDP cluster which runs elasticsearch that indexes data from a hbase table.

I do not plan to use Grafana to visualise managed services but to visualise customer data stored in HDP.

any thoughts or guidance much appreciated.

My other question was if I install grafana (http://docs.grafana.org/installation/debian/) on a node in my HDF cluster will it effect Ambari Metrics (which also uses an instance of Grafana) ?

Grafana comes from ambari repository so you can simply install the AMS in your HDF cluster using Ambari UI.

Ambari UI --> Add Services --> Ambari Metrics Service.

Along with AMS service the Grafana will be automatically installed.

.

Next part "I want to connect Grafana to my HDP cluster"

>>> Once grafana is installed then you can login to the Grafana UI and then you can add a new DataSource base don your requirement.

  1. Open the side menu by clicking the Grafana icon in the top header.
  2. In the side menu under the Dashboards link you should find a link named Data Sources.
  3. Click the + Add data source button in the top header.
  4. Select Elasticsearch from the Type dropdown.
