Impala Memory Limit Exceeds, where the memory is still available

Hi Team,

When Impala error out a query and it takes time to release the memory. I know it is a known issue with Impala, however, is there any workaround for the same? The only workaround I found was to restart impala, but that is not advisable in Production now and then. 

Appreciate your response. A bit urgently required.

What Impala version? Do you have a query profile or logs? We've fixed some bugs that might match this description, e.g. IMPALA-2990, but hard to know what you might be hitting without more info.
