Inserting data into existing partition gives ClassCastException

New Contributor

Hi,

I am using HDP 3.0 & HIVE 3.1.0 and whenever I am trying to insert the data into existing partition, I am getting below ClassCastException:

metastore.RetryingHMSHandler (RetryingHMSHandler.java:invokeInternal(201)) - java.lang.ClassCastException: org.apache.hadoop.hive.metastore.api.StringColumnStatsData cannot be cast to org.apache.hadoop.hive.metastore.columnstats.cache.StringColumnStatsDataInspector

However, the data is getting inserted I can see this error.

I checked on the blogs and jira for hive. Got one similar issue HIVE-17286 which is fixed in hive 3.0. Here is the link.

Please help on this.

Are you using remote metastore? If so then probably you are hitting https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-19316.
