Issue through configuration ODBC Driver for Hive in Windows 10

Explorer

I have followed the steps on the Installing and configuring the Hortonworks ODBC driver on Windows 7 guide, but using Windows 10.

After setting the parameters to the values specified in the PDF, I try to test the configuration and I get the following error:

FAILED! [Hortonworks][Hardy] (34) Error from server: connect() failed: errno = 10060.

I don´t know the reason why I am getting this message, could it be an effect of the company proxy?

Here is an HCC reponse to your error link

@Geoffrey Shelton Okot

That link contains an incorrect URI, which has changed, and it isn't able to me to fix that error.

Sorry check on this for windows 8 and windows 7 these are not HCC links but can help you resolve !

I'm getting the same error. I have followed the steps for W8 (because of the similarity between 8 and 10), but it still keeps failing.

@Luis Ruiz

Do you have select privilege on the tables,this is related to the permission issue.

To connect ensure that:

- The correct drivers are installed.
- The appropriate port is selected.
- The correct Hive Server (HiveServer or HiveServer2) is selected.
- Restart the Hortonworks Hadoop Hive server.
- Add exceptions to firewall and anti-virus software for communication to Hive server.

Any updates?

I think it will be a problem with the proxy, because the parameters are well-setted, and Hive is up and working. If this is not the cause, maybe the version of the sandbox can be the reason (I have the latest one).

whats does your host entry file look like on the host machine? This is not the sandbox. It is where you installed virtualbox/vmware

%systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

If you are using *nix system or Mac OS X it is simply

/etc/hosts

You might need Bridge or internal network or NAT to work.

I'm using Virtual Box, and I installed it in the default path established when installing. I don't know what do I have to look for in the host file
