Issue with installation of CDH5.2 using automated install with cloudera manager 5.2

Hi,

I am trying to install CDH 5.2 on a cluster. The latest version of Cloudera is available on –

http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera/en/downloads/cdh/cdh-5-2-0.html

On this page, just below the version information, there is the following note with the link to go to the cloudera manager installer.

Please note: CDH requires manual installation from the command line.
For a faster, automated installation download Cloudera Manager.

 The Cloudera Manager page goes to the following link –

http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera/en/downloads/cloudera_manager/cm-5-2-0.html

I click on Download Cloudera Express. It asks me to fill in contact information and presents a page which gives the following standard instructions that was there for every release -

Pre-requisites: multiple, Internet-connected Linux machines, with SSH access, and significant free space in /var and /opt.

    $ wget http://archive.cloudera.com/cm5/installer/latest/cloudera-manager-installer.bin

     $ chmod u+x cloudera-manager-installer.bin

     $ sudo ./cloudera-manager-installer.bin

I downloaded the binary and tried running it. The installer begins, checks firewall settings, checks if Java exists and then fails at the step when it has to get CDH packages. I have added the log that displays the failure, below. If you see the log it mentions missing packages from these links. The links seem to point to 5.1.3 packages and not 5.2.x which is the latest package. I understand that every installer always picks up the latest release.

  1. http://archive.cloudera.com/cm5/redhat/6/x86_64/cm/5/RPMS/x86_64/cloudera-manager-daemons-5.1.3-1.cm...
  2. http://archive.cloudera.com/cm5/redhat/6/x86_64/cm/5/RPMS/x86_64/cloudera-manager-server-5.1.3-1.cm5...

I checked my Internet connection and proxy settings, everything seems to be in place.

A couple of weeks ago, I had used the CDH installer binary to install the lastest CDH on my VM and it had worked.  I checked the log file on my VM and it reflects the correct version i.e. 5.2.0-1 for the packages.

Please let me know if there is an issue with the process I am following or with the binary.

Thanks,

I retried the installer today and it worked. Looks like it has been fixed 🙂
