I am not sure I am following your use case completely.

- You have a file on disk that contains a bunch of key/value pairs?

- You want to use the UpdateAttribute processor to take the values from this file on disk and apply them to FlowFiles?

You may want to look in to using NiFi's variable registry file:

https://nifi.apache.org/docs/nifi-docs/html/administration-guide.html#custom_properties

In addition the above, NiFi exposes everything via a rest-api. Anything you can do within the canvas (add, remove. edit, start, stop, etc..) to components can also be done via the rest-api interface. You can create a script that uses curl for example to automate this process.

https://nifi.apache.org/docs/nifi-docs/rest-api/index.html

Thanks,

Matt
