Sandbox + docker + windows 10 configuration - ambari not seeing components

Sandbox + docker + windows 10 configuration - ambari not seeing components

New Contributor

I have some difficulties with configuring hdp sandbox with docker.

I followed:

https://hortonworks.com/tutorial/sandbox-deployment-and-install-guide/section/3/

https://hortonworks.com/tutorial/learning-the-ropes-of-the-hortonworks-sandbox/#learn-the-ip-address...

and modified hosts:

10.0.75.1 localhost sandbox.hortonworks.com sandbox-hdp.hortonworks.com sandbox-hdf.hortonworks.com

my ipconfig:

Ethernet adapter vEthernet (DockerNAT):
   Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
   IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 10.0.75.1
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

I can log in to ambari through http://sandbox-hdp.hortonworks.com:8080/#/login

but everything I see is "n/a" or "No data available".

on "Hosts" subpage when I chooses sandbox-hdp... it shows "Heartbeat Lost" for all components.

ambari server and agent are up and running

[root@sandbox ~]# ambari-server status
Using python /usr/bin/python
Ambari-server status
Ambari Server running
Found Ambari Server PID: 576 at: /var/run/ambari-server/ambari-server.pid
[root@sandbox ~]# ambari-agent status
Found ambari-agent PID: 2478
ambari-agent running.
Agent PID at: /var/run/ambari-agent/ambari-agent.pid
Agent out at: /var/log/ambari-agent/ambari-agent.out
Agent log at: /var/log/ambari-agent/ambari-agent.log

ifconfig shows:

[root@sandbox ~]# ifconfig

can anyone help me with the configuration to get ambari working properly?

well explained, i have the exact same problem. @oen oen, did your manage to get around this?

I tried to restart ambari-server and agent. or even adding sandbox-hdp.hortonworks.com to /etc/hosts but no luck :(

@yHAM, Unfortunately not. I moved to VirtualBox sandbox and it is working fine/

Re: Sandbox + docker + windows 10 configuration - ambari not seeing components

Heya @oen oen @yHAM

Hmm, odd - if the sandbox is starting up and Ambari is running then so should all of its services and Ambari agent should see them.

The hostfile that you edited - did you edit your local machine's hostfile or the sandbox's? The sandbox's hostfile should not necessarily be touched - it depends on a specific hostname being used and needs to properly resolve to it.

As a sanity check, if it's not too much trouble, could you redeploy the sandbox without making modifications to it and seeing if Ambari comes up on http://localhost:8080 after a minute?
