Spark-shell delete/erase attempt prints $<3> on console

Hi,

I am pretty new to Spark/Scala and as I get into the spark-shell console  and try  to correct a typo in the code  by erasing a line with backspace i get " $<3>" appended to the line of my  code.

I tried with delete, ctrl+delete & ctrl+h but nothing seems ot be working .

Do i need to set an environment

parameter or something ? 

any ideas/suggestions?

Found the solution ....

TERM=xterm-256color

run above command and then run  spark-shell
