Upgrading JDK 1.7 to 1.8 on HDP 2.4.2

Explorer

I'm following all the steps in this page - https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.2.1.1/bk_ambari_reference_guide/content/ch_changi...

Still, after following through all the steps mentioned, default java on all of my nodes stays 1.7.

My cluster is running HDP 2.4.2.0-258 and was launched using Cloudbreak 1.3.

I also can't find a method to restart nodes from within the Ambari UI, So I do this through my EC2 console.

Any help would be received with gratitude,

Yaron.

Super Collaborator

can you run this command :

sudo alternatives --config java

to check what versions of java are available

I have downloaded jdk -8u91

then I perform following steps to set java 1.8 :-

tar -zxvf jdk-8u91-linux-x64.tar.gz

alternatives --install /usr/bin/java java /usr/java/jdk1.8.0_91/bin/java 2

alternatives --install /usr/bin/javac javac /usr/java/jdk1.8.0_91/bin/javac 2

alternatives --config java

alternatives --config javac

[root@hdp2 ~]# java -version

java version "1.8.0_91" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_91-b14) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.91-b14, mixed mode)
