I'm just curious and also unsure... When I'm creating a cluster (in this case, 3 kafka hosts and zookeeper), should I be adding the SCM host to this cluster as well, or does that operate separately?
I've read that each cluster should have a Master host, Utility host (with cloudera manager), and 3 worker hosts. Is it a bad idea to add the host that is running SCM to my new cluster, or should I leave it separate? I've noticed that when I add the SCM host to a cluster, it is using a LOT of memory by default, which leads me to think that I should not add the SCM host to the new cluster.

Hi
Yes, your understanding of adding an existing SCM host to the new cluster is correct. We won't recommend you to add the new cluster with existing SCM hosts.
