What are the diffrences between VMs and pyhsicals servers in a hadoop cluster?

Hello,

We are considering installing CDH on virtual machines but we have some performance concerns.

We should work on the virtual machine, although we estimate it will work better on the physical server. Are there any configuration recommendations that you would suggest about running clusters on virtual machines?

Running CDH on virtual machines is a supported configuration and I have customers who are successfully doing this today.
