ambai cluster + clean /tmp on hadoop cluster machines

hi all

in our ambari cluster , on masters machine ( name node )

we noticed that /tmp is full with Thousands of empty folders and files , and also folder and files with content that are real huge

and we are worry if /tmp will be full , then deletion will not succeeded

therefore we want to minimized the capacity on /tmp

my question is -

regarding that ambari services are also used the /tmp and HIVE service and others

we want to set the cleaning of /tmp in way that every folder / file will be deleted if they are old then one hour

is it ok?

we have ambari cluster - version 2.6.1 and HDP version - 2.6.4

Hi @Michael Bronson,

I dont this ambari is managing the /tmp folder or dont think ambari can help you automate the deletion.

why dont you create some cron job to perform this task of your own.
