help in choosing hardware specifications for HDP+HDF, all in one server for Development purpose

Dear all,

we are an education institute, we want to have a server for student projects in hadoop. we will be using all the hdp+HDF technologies. before we were planning to have two servers, one for HDP and one for HDF, but recently we found a document telling that we can install both in one server as well.

so we plan to have one server to reduce the budget.

we are planning to have the following, please correct us if something is not appropriate;

CPU=16 core e5 xeon processor

RAM=96GB

HD=2 TB

Network=10Gb bindwith.

we will be installing the latest releases of hdp and hdf with centos operating system.

please guide us with this.

more RAM is usually good. I think you will need a lot more disk for logs, data, install, OS.

Also you have to partition the drives.

Centos is a good choice.
