Is there a setting or option that can be used to prevent an appltication from creating huge temp files?
We recently had an application that due to bad syntax, began to cycle and create files in TB temp almost lowering the cluster for space, there is a way to prevent /tmp from overflowing at that level

You can set quota on /tmp - Once quota is reached further write on the directory will fail. https://docs.cloudera.com/cdp-private-cloud-base/7.1.6/scaling-namespaces/topics/hdfs-set-quotas-cm.... has the steps to enable quota
