The filesystem /var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process is RAM-only. If you want Cloudera Manager and CDH to use /disk1 now, you should edit the service properties and switch the properties that write to /opt and /var to use /disk1. There's no clean way to do this unfortunately, has to be a per-service basis.

The activation involves unpacking the parcel in /opt/cloudera/parcels and setting the symlinks. Check the Cloudera Manager agent logs for any errors. They're under /var/log/cloudera-scm-agent

Cloudera Manager manages two sets of properties: - client side is in /etc/SERVICE/conf (SERVICE is hadoop, hive, etc) - /var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process/ID-service-ROLE For service properties, edit it in CM and it will appear in /var/run on the next restart of the role. Please read this blog post about how Cloudera Manager works, it should be clearer to you. http://blog.cloudera.com/blog/2013/07/how-does-cloudera-manager-work/

Since the cluster is relatively large, for mgmt roles you can start with 2GB heap and tune upwards if required. This is just an estimate though. Regarding the JT health alert, please start a new thread in the Cloudera Manager forum.

This is typically caused when the CM version is 5.3 or older and it tries to manage CDH5.4. Please upgrade Cloudera Manager to 5.4.1 (current latest) and try again

It should sha like in the example output. You can rename the file or generate a new one: # openssl sha1 CDH-5.4.2-1.cdh5.4.2.p0.2-trusty.parcel > CDH-5.4.2-1.cdh5.4.2.p0.2-trusty.parcel.sha
