Since the OS version is not supported, Cloudera Support will be unable to support the cluster. However if you do have a support contract, I'd suggest talking to your account rep who can provide a definite answer.

> GenericJDBCException: Could not open connection This implies Cloudera Manager is unable to connect to the database. If you're using the embedded postgresql database, ensure it is running. Visit the file /etc/cloudera-scm-server/db.properties. Use the authentication creds in it and try to connect to the database directly, like "psql -U user -p password database". Does it work?

Debian 8.0 is not a supported OS as of C5.3.0. As an alternative you could install CM and CDH using tarballs, Path C. ref: http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera/en/documentation/core/latest/topics/installation_installation.html

Hi GautamG, unfortunately i've already made a cleanup when i found the solution of this issue. I did'nt backup the logs prior to this cleanup. Therefore i can't provide these logs. But as i said, changing language to en_US solved the problem. Thanks.....

When managing multiple clusters with the same instance of Cloudera Manager, each cluster can be on a different version and can be upgraded independent of each other. While having all three environments managed by the same Cloudera Manager seems attractive, it doesn't offer the flexibility of having three truly independent clusters, each with its own Cloudera Manager instance.

From what I understand till now, the issues only appear on datanodes which are containing a large number of blocks and these datanodes contain far more blocks than the healthy ones. This can be remedied by running the HDFS Balancer. In CDH 5.x, bug HDFS-6621 affects balancer performance. It is fixed in the GA releases 5.1.4 and 5.2.0 (and later versions like 5.3.0). It is not fixed in any 5.0.x version. So please consider upgrading to one of the above releases for the fix.

looks like i had Wheezy repo on from some earlier instal. I removed it and it worked. sort of. I am now stuck at another error much further down the line. I will hunt around for the solution or open another thread.
