The 2.5 Sandbox splash screen says I can log into Zeppelin with maria_dev account, but when I go directly to the http://127.0.0.1:9995/ I'm greeted as anonymous in the upper-right corner. I get it that I'm supposed to use the Zeppelin Ambari View, but that's not available in my VirtualBox instance (it wasn't in the Docker one I tested either). Other HCC Q's such as https://community.hortonworks.com/questions/39514/zeppelin-view-not-available-when-login-as-maria-de.html suggest I just need to enable access to the view, but when in Ambari as admin I only see the following views as deployed (i.e. no Zeppelin view). Then when I drill into maria_dev's accessible views I do see AUTO_ZEPPELIN_INSTANCE listed as available. But, when I click on it I get an "The requested resource doesn't exist: ViewVersion not found where ViewVersionInfo/version=1.0.0 AND ViewVersionInfo/view_name=ZEPPELIN" error message. Any thoughts? Am I just missing something obvious?

Good stuff, Steve. I'm actually having a few issues on the Docker version of the Sandbox myself and I'm pulling down the VirtualBox one to see if there is a better experience there. I've successfully leveraged the Sandbox team's products since joining HW three years ago and I think it is a great service. As with anything with this level of complexity, there is almost always some issues somewhere. Kudos to the Sandbox team and I hope your issues get resolved asap. AND... GOOD LUCK on your upcoming teach!!

Looks like @Artem Ervits helped you out here with reputation points by marking your answer to your own question as the "Best Answer". 😉 Seriously, I am glad you got rolling and it would be good to know more what the underlying Ubuntu 14 issue is if it gets clarified by you or someone else reading this thread.

I was able to follow the Mac instructions at http://hortonworks.com/hadoop-tutorial/hortonworks-sandbox-guide/#section_4 to get the 2.5 Docker-based Sandbox working fine on my MBPro. I was able stop restart the box several times and run the start_up script to get all services running. It'll probably be at least a few days from now, but I'm hopeful I can try it out on Ubuntu. @Rafael Coss, I'm betting y'all have not trouble with the Docker image on Ubuntu, but wondering what version y'all tested on. 16.x I guess?

Yes, there was some messaging back in late 2016 which indicated a change in the certification program, but it was determined that the planned changes were being released too fast and did not give enough time for folks already preparing for the existing certification exams to complete them. It is imaginable that the certification program will continue to evolve, but our intention is to ensure adequate time to adjust will be offered whenever any future plans are introduced. Please visit http://hortonworks.com/training/certification/ to see that the HCA and HDPCA are *both* valid and current certifications. Neither has a prerequisite certification either. Good luck on whichever exam(s) you decide to take!

Correct; if you understand the vast majority of the topics outlined at http://hortonworks.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/ExamObjectives-HCAssociate.pdf then you are well positioned knowledge-wise to pass the exam. Good luck!

As http://storm.apache.org/releases/1.0.2/Running-topologies-on-a-production-cluster.html calls out, "To update a running topology, the only option currently is to kill the current topology and resubmit a new one", but that does not mean that you cannot build some level of sophistication in your bolts that are dynamic. Usually this would mean build some level of configuration-driven behavior. That said, you cannot change the topology definition once it has been submitted. Happy Storming!!

As pointed out in the comments section of the answer above, we are currently considering whether we should be offering this as a free on-demand course. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Thanks for the update, Josh. The question wasn't exactly mine -- I was trying to show an HDP user out there the power of HCC and how fast a response should come in. I'll circle back to them to see if they could chime in to clarify the needs they are desiring (and possibly continue to proxy them if they aren't ready to collaborate directly).
