Hi @stanisenator I think you will be able to find a relevant, previously-posted answer to a question very similar to yours in this thread: https://archive.cloudera.com/cm6/6.2.0/ubuntu1604/ displaying 404 error Hope this helps.

@PJ18 Hmm…I think you might have been looking at an older document. The relevant paragraph, which I provided a link to above, is the initial one: …beginning in February 2021, no versions of Cloudera Manager, CDH, Apache Ambari, HDP and HDF releases will be available via Cloudera's public repositories. Instead, all of the then-currently supported releases of Cloudera Manager, CDH, Ambari, HDP and HDF will be accessible only to active customers with valid subscription entitlements to these Cloudera products. This follows similar changes made for versions released since November 2019, which were never posted in Cloudera’s public repositories. Emphasis added. As far as expediting your sales inquiry, I will reach out to our sales contact and inform them of your questions.

Hi @Mayhem, Cloudera recently changed the download policy and now to download Ambari and HDP you need a valid subscription. Please see the announcement here: Transition to private repositories for CDH, HDP and HDF One solution would be to download Ambari from Apache's site

Michael, I think you bring up a series of valid questions, and the previously posted answer, which was: The best way to get more details is to reach out to your representative on the Cloudera Sales Team. …remains accurate and the best way to get answers tailored to your organization's specific needs. I think I can shed some light on the final issue you raised, however: I can't find the source code to CDH, CDP or Cloudera Manager in Cloudera's Github org…Can you point us to the source code for these specific products? As I understand the situation right now, the plan never was to simply place the source code for CDH, CDP or Cloudera Manager on Cloudera's GitHub repo and let end-user's have at it and I don't believe that the blog post you cited promises that. Put another way, "enacting license changes" and "establish the new open source projects for formerly closed source components" is not the same thing as "put the source code on GitHub so it's available to people who do not have a Cloudera subscription".

@Arna you don't say what cost you want to be lower than, so I'll assume that you're trying to avoid cloud service provider costs. If you're looking for a solution that would allow you to run the CDP Data Center 60-day trial on your own, local machine, consider @carrossoni 's Vagrant and Virtualbox-based approach, which you can read about here: How to create a Centos7 CDP-DC Trial VM for sandbox/learning purposes ...hope this helps.

Interestingly, it appears from their recent announcement that centos8 in particular and centos in general is going to stop being a stable release of Linux that's compatible with RHEL and maintained by the community: https://blog.centos.org/2020/12/future-is-centos-stream/

@donno you wrote: I am still unable to simply initiate Hortonworks Sandbox session in the browser or via PuTTY SSH We will be able to help you if can provide us more details such as what is happening, what is failing, what error message you are seeing, or how you know that the Sandbox session is not initiating. Meanwhile, if you are able to log into Ambari via the browser but the services can't be started, (as shown in Ambari), you might consult this thread: unable to start service from hdp sandbox 2.6.5

I don't personally have the subscription pricing details. You can obtain them by contacting Cloudera sales using the number below or describe what you're interested in (e.g., a 60-day trial license for HDP 3.1.5 so you can complete a PoC) using the form provided here: https://www.cloudera.com/contact-sales.html and a sales person will get in touch with you. Greetings All, Cloudera has a new tutorial out now showing how to build a data flow using Apache NiFi to extract data from an external relational database, store that data in a cloud vendor object storage service and then move the data into Hive tables in a Cloudera Data Warehouse, all on Cloudera Data Platform - Public Cloud. Along the way, readers will learn how to configure a secured data hub cluster to communicate with an Enterprise Database Management Server. Here's the link.
