@Kyle Pifer Thanks for sharing the ambari.properties. See this article https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.2.0.0/bk_ambari_reference_guide/content/_optional_changing_the_default_ambari_server_port.html You are using default port for sure otherwise you should have client.api.port defined. Steps: ambari-server stop mv/var/log/ambari-server/ambari-server.log /var/log/ambari-server/ambari-server.log.bakup ambari-server start now, check whats in the log file.

@Rainer Geissendoerfer You may have to run this before deleting in case delete complains In Ambari server curl --user admin:admin -i -H "X-Requested-By: ambari" -X PUT http://`hostname -f`:8080/api/v1/clusters/HDPTEST/services/NIFI -d '{"RequestInfo": {"context" :"Stop NIFI via REST"}, "Body": {"ServiceInfo": {"state": "INSTALLED"}}}'

You can try this Delete the service run this in ambari server curl --user admin:admin -i -H "X-Requested-By: ambari" -X DELETE http://`hostname -f`:8080/api/v1/clusters/clustername/services/NIFI cleanup everything under /var/log/nifi and /var/run/nifi and try to add it back using Ambari after making sure that nifi directory exists under /var/log and /var/run with proper permissions or Wait for the official release of Amabri Service. 🙂

@Rainer Geissendoerfer You can search git code to get an idea on directory structure https://github.com/abajwa-hw/ambari-nifi-service/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=%2Fvar%2F

@Rainer Geissendoerfer If you look deeply 😉 it's still permission issue. Make sure that you create directories for nifi user under /var/log, /var/run etc.

@Rainer Geissendoerfer Couple of things: 1) Ambari service for NiFi is not officially released yet. You are using git code. 2) This is based on existing issue. I don't know how your setup looks like so you may want to check this. In git code, user nifi is starting nifi ..make sure that nifi user has privilieges to write to /var/log code link
