In my case, node4 is datanode and I want to customize the data directories Created new config for node4 select the config and change parameters that you want to change. There is Doc example

Hello Neeraj, I tried changing the ranger admin password to "admin" in Ambari UI - Ranger - Config - Advanced Ranger Env. However not able to access Ranger UI. Can you please advice if this password has to be changed any other place. Thank you.

Slider is a client lib and will be installed as part of client set in Ambari. Whether you choose to install it on a master node, is secondary, but typically you will see Slider (and clients) on the edge nodes.

paul@hortonworks.com The AD config was a bit tricky at the client site and one of our failed Kerborization attempts created an LDAP entry. The naming convention lined up with the above structure, so we deleted the entry and waited for the deletion to replicate. Then we gave it another shot and were successful.

In HDP 1.x we had documented support for HA for master services with vSphere, it is documented here. There is a Hortonworks blog that was published around Apache Ambari and VMware vSphere BDE last year. VMWare blog has video showing how to use Ambari with vSphere HDP 2.1. The new VMWare vSphere (v6.0) BDE 2.2 announcement mentions support for Ambari 1.7 with HDP 2.2.
