@Takefumi Oide Based on the "src/main/resources/stacks/HDP/3.0/services/HDFS/configuration/hadoop-env.xml" <property>
<name>namenode_backup_dir</name>
<display-name>NameNode Backup directory</display-name>

@Michael Bronson You can make the following API call to check whether the "Restart all required services" got successfully COMPLETD or not? Or it got failed? By keep tracking the "request_status". # curl -sH "X-Requested-By: ambari" -u admin:admin -X GET http://hdfcluster1.example.com:8080/api/v1/clusters/TestCluster/requests?fields=Requests/id,Requests/request_status,Requests/request_context | grep -A2 -B3 "Restart all required services"
. Output Example: "Requests" : {
"cluster_name" : "TestCluster",
"id" : 789,
"request_context" : "Restart all required services",
"request_status" : "COMPLETED"
} . If you want to know what got failed then you have the request id (789) to find out what went wrong: # curl -sH "X-Requested-By: ambari" -u admin:admin -X GET http://hdfcluster1.example.com:8080/api/v1/clusters/TestCluster/requests/789 . In order to get more fine grained output like which Task got failed on which Host during "Restart all required services" operation, you can make the following kind of API call once you know the request id from above calls. # curl -sH "X-Requested-By: ambari" -u admin:admin -X GET http://hdfcluster1.example.com:8080/api/v1/clusters/TestCluster/requests/789/tasks?fields=Tasks/command_detail,Tasks/host_name,Tasks/status .

Passwordless SSH is needed for Ambari Server to install & register ambari-agents on hosts using Ambari API calls (OR) using ambari UI. This is specially needed so that using Passwordless SSH the ambari server user can install the ambari agents on remote hosts. Hence in case of Single host, we can simply install the ambari-server and ambari-agent binaries on the same host on our own hence it is not mandatory. Also in case of Manual ambari agent registration/installation the Passwordless SSH is not needed. It is needed only when we want ambari to install the agents on the desired hosts (local / remote) using Ambari API calls or using Ambari UI. For ambari agent manual installation please refer to: https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.6.2.2/bk_ambari-administration/content/ch_amb_ref_installing_ambari_agents_manually.html

@bangalore SubbU Regarding your query: After placing the tar.gz in the /var/www/html/ folder, should i untar
and leave the files there are should the files be moved to /home? Once you have untar the "tar.gz" (repos) inside the "/var/www/html/" then there is no need to keep the "tar.gz" file in that place (although it won't cause any harm) . But you will need to make sure that the untar contents are present inside the"/var/www/html/" . You can move / delete the "tar.gz" file if you need to cleanup some disk space. Or you can leave it as it is. You can find a simple setup to configure HDP cluster using Local offline repo here whihc might give you a good idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHaVBoLwzwU

Correction the above instruction was for HDF Sandbox. So if you want to achieve the same in HDP Sandbox then please try this: For HDP Sandbox please try this: # ssh root@127.0.0.1 -p 2122
root@127.0.0.1's password: hadoop Edit the script "/root/start_scripts/splash.py" Example: Like changed the following line in "/root/start_scripts/splash.py" if flavor == "hdp":
greet_win.addstr(1, 2, "HDP 2.5") To something like if flavor == "hdp":
greet_win.addstr(1, 2, "HDP 2.5 (###### Test Application ######) ") Save the file and then Restarted HDP Sandbox. .

For HDF Sandbox please try this: If you want to customize the welcome screen then try something like this: # ssh root@127.0.0.1 -p 2122
root@127.0.0.1's password: hadoop Then edit the file "/sandbox/terminal-splash.py" For example change the line greet_win.addstr(1, 2, "Hortonworks Sandbox") With something like greet_win.addstr(1, 2, "Hortonworks Sandbox ########## TEST APP ##########")<br> Then restart your Sandbox.

@Shobhna Dhami If it still does not work then please share the Accumulo logs along with the ambari agent logs. Also please let us know which version of Ambari Do you use? Because in very old version of ambari similar issue was reported and for enhancement, Where the issue was occurring due to already existing "testtable": https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-14776 You might also want to refer to the following doc: https://community.hortonworks.com/articles/79327/re-initializing-apache-accumulo-under-hdp.html

@Shobhna Dhami
Can you try running the command manually as following? And check if the "testtable" exist? # /usr/hdp/current/accumulo-client/bin/accumulo shell -u ambari-qa -p smoke
> tables As we see the exception as following: ERROR: org.apache.accumulo.core.client.TableExistsException:Table testtable exists Hence If the 'testtable' exist then try to drop it once and then re run the service check. > droptable testtable .

Yes, Insufficient RAM can be a problem. However this can be investigated/confirmed based on the data requested above.

@yadir Aguilar There are some very useful Ambari Metrics Tuning Articles / docs available here which you might want to refer: 1. https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/AMBARI/Configurations+-+Tuning 2. https://community.hortonworks.com/content/supportkb/208353/troubleshooting-ambari-metrics-ams.html
