I have latest HDP 2.5 installed and controlled by Ambari. The Zepellin Notebook service never starts. Logs revealed that exception is thrown, which indicates "This address is already in use". Some search on Internet revealed that problem may be caused by the fact that another program is using Zepellin's port 9995. However netstat command does not show anything using this port. Also I tried to change port to 9996 and it did not help either. It looks like the exception's message is misleading and problem is somewhere else. Any help on this would be appreciated.

@Artem Ervits Thank you very much for your help. I actually already found a much easier workaround, which was to create a new Hive view and use it instead of a broken one. But at this point I am still wondering why these things are happening? I.e. - why automatically created view was not pointing to any cluster? - why it was not possible to delete it or modify it via Ambari? - why all this was happening "silently", meaning that I was not able to find any error messages in relevant logs?

I am using Ambari 2.4, the one currently available for download. Log file "/var/log/ambari-server/hive-view/hive-view.log is empty. The image below shows that no cluster was assigned to the view (this view was created automatically). This was true for all views, not only Hive view. However only Hive view did not allow me to assign the cluster. Any attempt to modify the view throws the pop up shown below

In a freshly installed Ambari server most views did not point to a cluster name (the cluster name was empty). This was strange itself, but even more disappointing was the fact that also I was not able to modify Hive view. The pop came with the message: Can't save settings. Server error which was not very informative... The attempts to find any relevant information in Ambari server logs also were unsuccessful. So where should I look further?

And again this makes sense. However in this case I think it should be explained in "LEARNING THE ROPES OF THE HORTONWORKS SANDBOX" article. I do not think the fact of 2 levels virtuality is explained there or at least that it is explained clear enough for somebody who is new with the product

However I am still wondering why HDFS does not start on its own, why do I need to start it manually? When I tried to run Sandbox within Virtual Box I did not have to start it, all worked automatically

I installed Sandbox within VMWare running in Windows 10. I noticed that Ambari dashboard reports 0 live data nodes. And this is probably why I can't write any file in HDFS. Are data nodes not available in Sandbox upon install? Do I need to manually create them?
