New OS releases can be tested and certified only with new Cloudera Manager / CDH versions. With the recent 5.13 release, RedHat / CentOS 7.4 is now supported for the 5.11, 5.12 and 5.13 releases, see CDH and Cloudera Manager Supported Operating Systems

Installed Cloudera Manager packages were for RHEL6.
Uninstall cloudera-manager-agent and cloudera-manager-daemons.
Adjust yum repository in /etc/yum.repos.d/cloudera-manager.repo to EL7
Install CM agent packages, now with the correct OS version.

Correct idea, it turned out that the EL6 packages were installed on this CentOS7 node. Re-installing the cloudera-manager-agent and cloudera-manager-daemons using the EL7 package resolves the issue.

Hi atai, your first CM API call will download the mapred-site.xml configuration file that this specific role instance was started with (in your case Resource Manager). See that the mapred-site.xml config file in/var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process/xxx-yarn-RESOURCEMANAGER/mapred-site.xml has the same values. This mapred-site.xml file contains only the configuration values that are relevant to the Resource Manager role. You want to download the client configuration files for the YARN service instead, using the UI or a call like # curl -o yarn-clientconfig.zip -u admin:admin http://cmhost:7180/api/v12/clusters/Cluster%201/services/YARN-1/clientConfig

This is planned for the next release 5.9 currently. This may be subject to change, though.

It turns out that 5.8 does not support SLES12 yet. The Supported Operating Systems section has the information right. The statement in the Release Notes section you pointed to here is incorrect, I've addressed this with our docs team.

There are indeed no packages/parcels for SLES12 on archive.cloudera.com. I will clarify internally and let you know.

Good to hear it works. I'll address the documentation issue internally, should be corrected soon.

Hi Nolian, I'm wondering about your /etc/hosts, are those IP addresses and hostnames really each on a new line, or is the formatting just broken due to copy/pasting to here? Please run these commands on all nodes to determine the status # hostname
# hostname -f
# python -c 'import socket; print socket.getfqdn(), socket.gethostbyname(socket.getfqdn())'
# getent hosts <give the FQDN>
