Delete the old VM and then start new one.It worked for me.

You can create the same way you have created the first one and start less services there.

You can restart the new VM and login from there because once VM is having configuration issue then it will be difficult to get is resolved.

You need to configure a cluster to have more datanodes.You must have installed the VM on single box.Either create more than 1 VM and start with psuedo distributed mode.
