@Mike Wong These 2 commands should give you the correct format of the hostnames. $ hostname -f or $ cat /etc/hosts Can you correct the names and restart the zookeepers Have you checked in the Ambari UI --->Zookeeper--->Config parameter--> Zookeeper Server --->Zookeeper Server host(s) Do the name correspond ?

@Mike Wong Stop the zookeeper through Ambari UI. Then check for any zookeeper rogue process still running remember you had tried to start it manually $ ps -ef grep | zookeeper Note the PID from the above output $ kill -9 PID Clean the .log and .out logs in /var/log/zookeeper # truncate --size 0 zookeeper.log
# truncate --size 0 zookeeper-zookeeper-server-FQDN.out Restart through Ambari UI Check for any errors in the above logs

@Ashwin Bommathanahalli @Artem Ervits @Timothy Spann @Jay Kumar SenSharma @Abdelkrim Hadjidj This has become an alarming situation that hortonworks exam team has to address, a week doesn't pass by without a complaint from a candidate. I was a victim of the same situation luckily I had all the proof and I was got a redeem eCredit to re-sit. Hortonworks has great products and getting many certified would go a long way to clinch this niche market. The exam environment provided by PSI is unstable and unreliable from European standpoint and maybe APAC zones I think if we take a poll it will be disastrous. HW shouldn't accept such a negative publicity to ruin its market push. I have copied Jay,Artem,Timothy and Abdelkrim sorry gentlemen I am aware you are employed by HW but not responsible for the exams but I trust you can internally try to debate this issue because it now becomes HW's onus

@Matthias Tewordt I am happy you have succeeded. Next time you can now help someone with the setup of HDF in Azure 🙂 Yes, the database could be set on any node but as you have already Postgres installed for Ambari it's easier to have the other databases on the same host for easier management. CAUTION: When in production think of setting database replication in the future. Once you have finished the setup If you found this answer addressed your question, please take a moment to log in and click the "Accept" link on the answer. Keep me posted

If you are using both Private and public I think the entry should look rather like this, more elegant !! Your earlier entry will not work as you have concatenated 2 IP's 40.117.159.94 10.0.0.6 myhdf.eastus.cloudapp.azure.com myhdf ####################### Private IP's #######################
40.117.159.94 myhdf.eastus.cloudapp.azure.com myhdf
40.117.251.23 mtvm6.eastus.cloudapp.azure.com mtvm6
104.41.128.170 mtvm5.eastus.cloudapp.azure.com mtvm5
####################### Public IP's #######################
10.0.0.6 myhdf.eastus.cloudapp.azure.com myhdf
10.0.0.5 mtvm6.eastus.cloudapp.azure.com mtvm6
10.0.0.7 mtvm5.eastus.cloudapp.azure.com mtvm5 Replace that on all the servers and let me know

@Mike Wong I hope this is not production ! 1) Stop Resource Manager 2) Connect with ZK server in /usr/hdp/2.x.x/zookeeper the below uout put is from cluster your output could look slightly different depending on installed components ./bin/zkCli.sh[zk:
localhost:2181(CONNECTED) 0] ls /
[registry, cluster, brokers, storm, zookeeper, infra-solr, hbase-unsecure, admin, isr_change_notification, templeton-hadoop, hiveserver2, controller_epoch, druid, rmstore, ambari-metrics-cluster, consumers, config]
[zk: localhost:2181(CONNECTED) 1] ls /rmstore
[ZKRMStateRoot]
[zk: localhost:2181(CONNECTED) 2] 3) Remove the znode for RM -- rmr /rmstore [zk: localhost:2181(CONNECTED) 2] rmr /rmstore Restart YARN
