Do you have the Standalone Spark service also present in the cluster? If so, please change the name of the existing SPARK service to say "SPARK standalone" before attempting to add SPARK on YARN using "Add A Service"

Kafka is currently only available via the parcel distribution, not the RPM/Deb/tarball distributions. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Can you run a simple python command to see if it can bind to 9000? This will eliminate CDH/CM from the equation. # python -m SimpleHTTPServer 9000 If this works, then the port is available and issue is with the agent. If it fails, then the kernel has the port open for a process which netsat doesn't know about. The only solution would be to reboot the host, then try again.

Try running "netstat -anp | grep 9000" and see if that tells you who holds the port 9000. Once you figure out how to stop that process, you can try starting the agent again.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble upgrading. Please describe what the actual error is. Is the "yum upgrade" itself failing or is Director throwing an error after the upgrade?

50070 and 50470 refer to the Namenode's HTTP ports, not for sending RPC calls to browse HDFS. http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera/en/documentation/core/latest/topics/cdh_ig_ports_cdh5.html Have you tried getting the tool to connect to port 8020 on the Namenode host instead of 50070/50470?

Got it, I wasn't aware the hosts are not connected to the Internet. We have the procedure for this documented already Creating and Using a Package Repository for Cloudera Manager http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera/en/documentation/core/latest/topics/cm_ig_create_local_package_repo.html Creating a Local Yum Repository http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera/en/documentation/core/latest/topics/cdh_ig_yumrepo_local_create.html edit: changed the second link

CDH is a collection of various products and not available as a single installer. The doc page shows you how to install CDH using packages. You'll have to add the repository to each host and use yum/apt-get/zypper to install. Alternatively you can download all the RPMs and create a local repository within your network, then use that to install CDH on all the hosts. Does that help answer your question? Are you interested in using Cloudera Manager with your cluster?
